Uffington Horse has been performing since 1999 in the Northwest. Their mix of Heather's original songs and traditional tunes put to a rock and roll beat bring to mind British bands Fairport Convention or Steeleye Span, but with a modern style that is all their own. Their sound has been describe as "Afro-Celt Sound System with Grace Slick as lead singer." The fantastic and mythic aspects of their music combined with their kicking renditions of traditional Irish and Scottish tunes inspire fans of all ages. They have returned to the Kelso Highlander Festival for the past four years, have performed at numerous private functions and are often enjoyed at local casinos. Heather has six published albums on her own label, Sea Fire Productions. Her latest album is the solo work, "Festival Wind," recorded live in 2002. Uffington Horse's first Celtic-World Rock album "Enchantment" is scheduled to be released in 2004. Theres even a promotional Enhanced CD available right now on their web site to give you a taste of their sound. Over the past 20 years, she has performed a broad spectrum of music, from country to Cajun. With her fiery fiddling and smoldering vocals, her music has Celtic roots, but with a modern American flavor. With numerous albums to her credit, she has won audiences of all ages. In 1999, she formed Uffington Horse to perform her original music in the spirit of the great British Folk Rock bands, but with an up-to-date style. When she is not rocking the world with Uffington Horse, she can be found performing solo up and down the west coast.
Andrew Hare has played a variety of instruments during a musical career spanning over 35 years. Originally from Los Angeles, he has been a member of The Association, and has recorded with members of The Lovin’ Spoonful and Spanky and Our Gang. Since moving to Seattle in 1981, he has been in demand as a studio and performing musician with various local rock, country and bluegrass bands and songwriters. He is also a successful painter showing with a major Seattle art gallery.
Dan Ochipinti has played drums and percussion for 25 years. He grew up in Sacramento, CA and moved to Seattle in 1985. DanO has been performing steadily in the NW music scene ever since. He has played many genres of original music including American rock, folk and jazz, African pop, Celtic folk and rock, Brazilian, Latin American, Eastern and Western European folk, and even Jewish Klezmer music.
Heather AlexanderHeather Alexander is a fiery, Celtic redhead who has often been known to sing the praises of the fae folk. She composes and performs original and traditional Celtic music on fiddle, guitar, bodhran and whatever other instruments with which the sidhe present her. When not on tour, she makes her home in the countryside west of Portland, Oregon with her husband Phil and a menagerie of magical creatures. More often though, Heather is found performing up and down the West Coast, or in venues from Portland to Seattle, solo, or with Uffington Horse, her Celtic Folk and World Rock band. Heather has published seven albums on her own label, Sea Fire Productions, including two live albums, four studio works and a "blooper" album. She is currently at work on "Enchantment", an album of her Celtic rock band, Uffington Horse, available late 2004. Her other albums are available in the dealers' area. Her work on book/album tie-ins like "Insh'Allah: the music of Lion's Blood", "Songsmith" and "Shadow Stalker", as well as her original Celtic rock album "Keepers of the Flame" (with her former band, Phoenyx), have assured her popularity at SF cons, while her appearances at pubs, coffee houses, Folk Music Festivals and Highland Games have made her music available to the public at large. Their tireless efforts to bring some of the best talents to the Pacific Northwest have ensured that many local and regional Science Fiction and Fantasy conventions have a special Filk Guest of Honor and excellent filk programming. They raise funds by selling filk/folk music, songbooks, etc. at various local conventions such as Orycon, Rustycon, Norwescon and the odd Pacific NW based Westercons.
