Inoue-san won the Takumi Shibano Award for outstanding fan activity, 1998.

He was the Chairman of the: 6th SF Show (1984); 1st-4th SF X'mas (1983-86); and the Bid Chairman for Worldcon Nippon. He is now the Chairman for the Japanese Worldcon in 2007
Inoue-san was the co-Chair for both Mig-con (27th Japan National Science Fiction Convention, in 1988); and the Captain Future Con in 1990 (1990).

Since 1977 he has been a member of the Space Force, Chief of the General Staff 1979-1987.
and JASFIC (Japanese Association for Science Fiction International Communication), 2002-present, Chair.

His first contact with fandom was in 1976.
